Our multidisciplinary teams work side by side, both in Belgium and across borders, to help clients make the changes they need to be transparent, accountable and resilient in a world of changing trade policies and border controls. It’s better for business and better for society. To reinforce our team, we are looking for a Customs Senior Expert to join our offices in Brussels, Antwerp or Ghent. Your impact A career in our Customs and Trade practice, will allow you to: Advise clients on global trade strategy and compliance in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment (sanctions, trade measures, reshoring, regionalisation). Give advice about all aspects of customs, excise and related consumption taxes, and supporting companies in managing their customs and excise compliance. Analyse records, solve problems and point out opportunities for our clients, being involved in contacts with local tax authorities. Support supply-chain structuring and optimisation from a customs and trade perspective. Assist with audits, rulings and dispute management with customs and excise authorities. Help clients implement and improve Global Trade Management (GTM) systems (e.g. SAP GTS or similar). Apply AI and data analytics to improve classification, origin, risk detection and document handling. Translate regulatory requirements into (automated), defensible trade processes. This role combines technical trade expertise, business insight and technology enablement in a client-facing consulting environment. As a Senior Expert, you will be integrated into an Indirect Tax team of 50 tax specialists. You will be dealing with highly sophisticated clients (multinational corporations and major Belgian-headquartered companies) with specific needs. You will design tailor-made international trade solutions (essentially in relation to customs, excise and environmental taxes), often with the involvement of other specialists.

Eligibility / Qualification Required:

  • You have a university degree in economics or law.
  • You have three to five years experience in customs and international trade.
  • Affinity with Global Trade Management systems and trade automation is a strong plus.
  • You are fluent in Dutch or French and English.
  • You are well-organised and able to meet (tight) deadlines.
  • You are a team player and have developed a broad business-mindedness.
  • We expect you to contribute actively to Client Relationship Management and to continually strive to deepen your own technical know-how.
